Rolex has always been a pioneer of creating watches for special purposes, and the Milgauss may just be their most niched yet. With a magnetic resistance of up to 1,000 gauss, it was built with scientists in mind.

Despite the high-tech and specialized functions of the Milgauss, its classic styling and playful details (such as the green crystal and orange hands and markers), make it a great daily wearer.

Omega Speedmaster

Tom first wore a Speedy for his role as NASA astronaut Jim Lovell, in Apollo 13. The film chronicles the technical troubles of the third moon landing; and how the Speedy played a part in saving the lives of the astronaut.

These days, Tom still likes wearing the Speedmaster on his own time, and we aren’t surprised. With a timeless design, unparalleled performance (it’s preferred by NASA after all), and extraordinary history, the Speedy is a staple in every man’s watch collection.

Rolex Sea-Dweller

Yet another specialized watch from Rolex, the Sea-Dweller, is made for extreme diving and has a water resistance of up to 4,000 feet. It’s unlikely that Tom uses his Sea-Dweller for this purpose, but the watch still makes for a great all-around watch for accomplished men like him.

Truly, the appeal of the Sea-Dweller was its ability to nail the technical requirements; and have a ruggedly handsome look at the same time. The same can be said about the legendary Tom Hanks.
