Macklemore Loves Gold Watches

Rapper Ben Haggerty, better known as Macklemore, burst into the scene as one half of a rap duo with producer Ryan Lewis. Best known for songs Thrift Shop and Can’t Hold Us, they were masters of tackling social issues in upbeat, catchy verses.

Outside the studio, Macklemore is known as much for his eclectic style as he is for his infectious music. On his wrist are an array of timepieces – mostly in gold – that simply can’t be missed. Check out the watches of Macklemore:

Rolex Submariner

One of Macklemore’s favorite timepieces is the Rolex Submariner ref. 116618. It is the first full-gold edition of the 6-digit Sub, which comes with a Super Case with thicker lugs and larger crown guards. The ref. 116618 was also the first Submariner to include a ceramic bezel and a Maxi dial.

This watch combines the precious metal with a sunburst blue dial and bezel that pairs well with any ensemble. A polished Oyster bracelet completes the look. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak

While the Royal Oak was originally designed as a luxury steel timepiece, its form and proportions look stunning in yellow gold. Macklemore has worn this time-honored watch in a campaign with his own apparel brand Bogey Boys and on the red carpet.

His preferred version comes in a 39mm case with a yellow gold Grand Tapisserie dial and bracelet. While contemporary in size, it retains many of the original Royal Oak’s attributes from the overall proportions, dial configuration, and satin-brushed and polished finish.

Rolex Daytona

We’ve also seen Macklemore wearing a Rolex Daytona with a meteorite dial. Introduced in a trio of gold cases in 2021, his choice model has a yellow gold construction.

Technically speaking, the ref. 116508 is the same Daytona you have known for decades, but what gives it away is the meteorite dial that makes the black sub-dials pop. Rolex Datejust Full Diamond

Macklemore, who is known for his adventurous style, also opts for the most unique Rolex watches there are. He owns an iced-out Rolex Datejust in a two-tone finish.

This custom piece comes with a pave diamond dial, and white diamonds on the fixed bezel, Jubilee bracelet, and lugs. The yellow gold Roman numerals and hands balance out the extravagant design.

Rolex Day-Date Green Stella Dial

In the 1970s, Rolex introduced a range of colorful models to the Day-Date series in very limited numbers. Known as the “Stella Dials”, they were named after the lacquer supplier that Rolex hired to produce these boldly colored dials.

Macklemore’s ref. 1803 has a vivid dial in Rolex’s signature green hue that represents success and prosperity. Rolex Day-Date Diamond Dial

The Rolex Day-Date is considered a symbol of success and accomplishment. Easily recognizable, this watch is a staple in world leaders’ and celebrities’ watch boxes, including Macklemore’s.

The rapper has the traditional 36mm yellow gold Day-Date, complete with a champagne dial, and polished lugs. Brilliant cut and baguette diamond hour markers add a contemporary feel, while the Oyster case with a waterproof screw-down crown makes the watch suitable for swimming and watersports.

Powering the watch is the self-winding Caliber 3155, equipped with a 48-hour power reserve and a Double Quickset function for more convenient tracking of time.

Rolex Day-Date Burlwood Dial

Aside from releasing pieces with excellent build and exquisite appeal, Rolex is also known for using exotic materials for their dials ranging from meteorite, Stella, gem-set, gilt, and many more. One of the most bizarre types is the wood dial, which was featured in numerous Cellini and Day-Date models.

Macklemore’s choice model boasts a burlwood walnut dial with golden print, and slim hands, and hour markers. The warm color blends beautifully with the 18k yellow gold case, while the fluted bezel and Jubilee bracelet add interest to the already dashing design.
